15yo De La Salle-Laguna Standout Miguel H. Abaño in Podium Honors at ROK GP Cup Philippines opener.

Racer Miguel Hernandez Abaño popularly called on-track "Mr. Full-Throttle" has now moved up to Senior Class Category and has scored podium wins in the recent ROK GP Cup Philippines Karting race at Carmona Racing Circuit, Cavite.

For the season opener of the Karting Series held last weekend (March 25 to 26, 2023), Miguel scored valuable points by placing 3rd in his qualifying heat 1 and 4th in heat 2. In Round 1- Finals Miguel landed 5th but since he garnered better qualifying heat finishes, he ended 4th Overall in the Clubman Class.

In round 2 the following day, Miguel took 4th in heat 1 and improved to 3rd in heat 2 which gave him the momentum to finish 2nd place in Round 2 - Finals.

As a late-bloomer in the field of motorsports particularly karting, having started competing only at age 14 is late already considering most drivers develop their skills as young as 5 years old. Despite these, Miguel who is now 15 and in his 2nd year of karting, has improved vastly and according to him he plans to move up sooner in car racing such as the Philippine GT-100. His exposure to karting gives him an advantage over his would-be rivals in car racing since most of the champions in car circuit racing honed their driving skills during their karting days.

Miguel is also scheduled to compete in the Rotax Max Challenge on April, 2023 which will be held at Palawan International Circuit. Though busy in his studies, the "Full-Throttle" racer always finds ways to maintain a good study-sports life balance in his pursuit to have a College degree and at the same time continue his professional racing career.
