Impressive Back-to-Back Round Championship for Bern Corpino in Phils. Karting Series (ROTAX/ROK)

Updated: May 26, 2022

Karter #19 BERN CORPINO of the DRQ Motorsport team and a 14yo high school student of San Beda Alabang made it two in a row by winning the Junior Class - Round 1 of the 2022 Petron Blaze 100 ROK GP Super Karting Series held at Palawan International Circuit last May 15, 2022. This win is a strong follow-up performance result from his podium 1st-place win last April in Carmona, Cavite Racetrack for the 2022 ROTAX Max Challenge Philippines Series - Round 1.

Troubled by short seat time and track unfamiliarity challenges with the Palawan circuit, Bern initially placed second to teammate Danzel Waytan in the time trial and qualifying heat but delivered a strong finish in the Finals when it mattered most. Bern finally brought out all his might, power, and superb pace to wrest the title. Though the Palawan competition is a separate event, it is also included in the points system computation for determining the Junior Karter of the Year. The racer who will be crowned ROK GP Philippines overall champion will have the chance to represent the country in the ROK GP World Finals. As of the moment, Bern who is currently coached by multi-titled Karter of the Year John T. Dizon leads all the series in the statistical points system. Resumption of the next karting race is slated in June at the Clark International Speedway, Pampanga.
