RYAN SY SURGES INTO SECOND PLACE IN JUNIOR CLASS AT THE 2022 ROTAX MAX CHALLENGE PHILIPPINES SERIES

12-year old Kid Racer Ryan Sy placed 2nd in the point standings in the Junior Class Category at the inaugural 2022 PETRON BLAZE 100 ROTAX Max Challenge Philippines Series held last Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the Carmona Racing Circuit track in Cavite.

After the release of the official scorecard, Ryan of PCRC team, coached and trained by the legendary Elson Carpio with veteran mechanic Alfred James Alba also helping in the engine tuning and the mechanical aspects, Ryan eventually landed a strong 2nd place in the Junior Class eclipsing newcomer Danzel Waytan of DRQ team by 2-points and trailing the leader Bern Corpino by 5-points also of DRQ. Ryan unfazed by the strong competitions in the Junior Category made a strong showing against the powerhouse 3-karters trio of DRQ Motorsports team that includes SIM-racing Champion and 2021 1st-Runner Up Intermediate Class racer Joshua David Marquez. In fact, Ryan who emerged only 4th place behind the three DRQ karters in the time trial, surprised and outpaced everybody by finishing 1st and thus gaining pole-position in the Qualifying heat.

In the Finals, Ryan was involved in a racing incident right on the 1st lap that negated his pole position in the grid dropping him into several places but his last year experience in the 2021 MiniROK ROKGP series prevailed, helping him to recover and cope up with the leaders to finish in 3rd place. The 15-points he earned in the qualifying heat as the pole-sitter gave him enough cushion to be heralded as 1st-runner Up in the current points standing. Though he missed the Championship trophy in the 1st round, there is a strong indication that Ryan will spearhead another great show of race skills and tenacity in the next round.
