Toyota Motor Philippines postpones the second race of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup .

Leading mobility company Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), organizer of the long-running one-make-race series TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Vios Cup, has announced changes in the race schedule for the 2021 season.

Debuting last July after a 2020 hiatus, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Vios Cup is slated to resume with its second of three legs on September 11, 2021. However due to the current quarantine protocols and increase in COVID-19 cases in the country, TMP has decided to move the second race weekend on October 16 to prioritize the health and safety of participants. This also allows racers and teams to have more time to prepare for the races.

“As committed when we opened the 2021 race season, the safety and well-being of our participants and partners will be our top priority. In view of the current surge in COVID-19 cases and the enforcement of new quarantine guidelines, we decided it is best for everyone to move the 2nd leg originally scheduled on September 11 to a later date - October 16,“ said TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto.

“We look forward to seeing you on the next race weekend in October. For now, we would like to remind everyone to stay safe and strictly follow safety and precautionary measures,” he added.

While waiting for the second leg, race fans can rewatch the action from the first race weekend on TMP’s official Facebook and Youtube channels - Toyota Motor Philippines and Toyota Gazoo Racing PH. One exciting thing to look forward into the next leg is the continuation of the tight battle between racers in the Sporting Class category where the former Karting Champions led by Iñigo Anton, Joaquin Garrido, Miguel Quiñones and the comebacking Jacob Ang competed. The postponement of the race schedule allowed these youngsters, who all leveled-up from go-kart to car racing, to have their own individual and team practice schedule extended too to prepare them better to improve their standings in the race.

The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Vios Cup 2021 was organized in cooperation with Bridgestone, official fuel partner Petron, supported by Motul. Other sponsors are Brembo, Denso, AVT, 3M, OMP, Tuason Racing, and ROTA.
